Winter is just around the corner… lets have some fun in the North Carolina High Country!
Check out this awesome new video on the High Country’s winter activities…
Boone Area Winter Sports Video from Matt Powell on Vimeo.
We had a powerful winter last year and look to have another one this year.. the “old timers” have a tradition around here.. you put a bean in a pot for every day during the month of August that we have fog… each bean after the month, will equate to a snow storm in the winter… Today is the 19th of August and we have I think 11 beans in the pot already!
Make your plans now to visit Boone and the High Country this winter!
The Appalachian Football Season is almost upon us… Should the Gator nation take notice?
I am well aware that every year, new teams take the field and it does little good to look backwards.. Backwards to say, 2007 when this team playing with truck loads of heart, traveled to the Big House to face Michigan. Well, this year the Appalachian State University Football Team will be traveling to the Swamp to face the Florida Gators in late November. Can we have another?
A little video reminder in case you forgot?
Talk on the street is positive about this 2010 team and we are excited to have a great home game run this fall in Boone.. We look forward to the return of the great ASU Alumni that so proudly support the Mountaineers so come on up to the High Country and see us this fall and wear your Black & Gold with pride.

Did you know that the Jackson Dining Room has one of the best views in Boone?
The Jackson Dining Room at the Broyhill Inn has a beautiful 25 mile long range view of our splendid Blue Ridge Mountains. With our eastern exposure, the brilliant sunrises go great with a fresh cup of morning coffee and in the evening, our patrons get to enjoy the lush green hardwoods that frame natures picture from our complete windowed wall. I am biased, as I often stop during my daily routine to admire our beautiful setting.
We are looking forward to a great summer and we invite you to come join us! Here are a few things that we have going on.
- Dinner is served each Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings from 5:30pm to 9:00pm
- During An Appalachian Summer Festival, we have modified our standard hours to open earlier and to add a few days to accommodate the shows that are on Sunday evening. That information can be found here http://broyhillinn.com/events/AppSummerJDR/
- Reservations are suggested for dinner – give us a call at 828.262.2204
- Our menu is on-line and can be found here http://broyhillinn.com/autoimage/pIkEZQJ.pdf
- Check out our “Economic Recovery” wine list which will be available during July.. we have numerous unique bottles of wine that will all be offered at a special discounted price of $22.00 each plus tax and gratuities.. we only have a few of each, so it will be fun to see which sells first.. Many of these wines are heavily discounted.
- Student entertainment – as usual, we will offer entertainment each evening to enrich your dining experience.
- And I would be amiss if I did not mention our Grand Sunday Brunch Buffet that is offered every Sunday from 10:45am to 2:30pm – this is a wonderful spread of breakfast and lunch offerings, appetizers and tasty desserts….. our carving station & omelets made to order compliments one of the best brunch offerings in the High Country. Reservations are recommended by calling 828.262.2204. Sunday Brunch is $23.95 plus tax and gratuities.
Come on out and enjoy the Jackson Dining Room at the Broyhill Inn… one of Boone’s best kept secrets for 37 years….

As the seasons turn…
You may think that this title is driven by our harsh Winter in the High Country, but nope! I’m speaking of college athletic seasons. National Signing day is behind us and both universities and fans are taking a look at the new recruits, or some cases, the vacancies that had not really been filled. College Basketball is in full swing and the typical powers, are less then expected… but… We are just a couple of weeks from the first pitch.. Yes, College Baseball. To me, College Baseball remains one of the purest revenue generating sports left in the NCAA.
Appalachian Baseball has its home opener one month from TODAY! Friday, March 5th. Check out the schedule and come see the new ball park which is located adjacent to the Broyhill Inn. http://www.goasu.com/SportSelect.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=21500&KEY=&SPID=12821&SPSID=104512

My kind of Broyhill
Hello everyone who is following this blog! I wanted to share a few words with you to talk about the Broyhill Inn, cause that’s why we are here. First of all, I am Melvin Guevara, I am 22 years old from Costa Rica and I am an Intern here this fall, the new face behind the Broyhill Inn. Probably if you stayed at the Broyhill Inn or visited it for your business meeting, you probably saw me around. I have been pretty busy here, learning a little bit of everything I could. I have learned so many good things from the Broyhill Inn. The greatest achievement for me was being part of the big family who works here. They are so nice and I had good moments hanging out and working here. I remember when I was in the kitchen, the first times I was trying not to mess up with the food and all that. And that’s exactly what they never let me do, cause they were always careful and professional, but they were nice guys too. Never left me alone and they were always there to help me. It was the same when I was in Banquets, The Jackson Dining Room, Front Desk, Housekeeping, hmmm who did I not mention? Well everyone who is involved in the Broyhill Inn family. The Broyhill for me is like school, I go there and do my homework. go home and then come back the next day and get an A. Cause that’s what the people and the service of the Broyhill are, just a Good Grade!!
I only can say THANK YOU Broyhill Inn, Thank You Staff, Thank You Boone, for letting me be part of you! Now I am such an expert in social media, another good thing I learned here. This is your hotel, and I hope you come by and visit us. You wont be disappointed. I guarantee you that.
Have a nice day!!
