Economic Recovery wine list will continue… come save some $$ on some good wines..

Continuing into August, the Jackson Dining Room at the Broyhill Inn, we will be offering an additional special wine list.. we have compiled a lengthy wine list of many many wonderful wines that we used during our educational wine trainings throughout the year.

The fun part is two fold… They are all priced at $22 and we only have a few bottles of each…

One copy of the menu will be floating around between the customers and as we sell a bottle, we will mark off the bottle so that we maintain an accurate count of what is still available… Many bottles have been consumed.. but we still have many great values left.

So our Economic Recovery Wine List will continue to be in place. Come out and enjoy some great wine buys, have a great meal with our awesome 25 mile long range view. Be sure to give us a call to make reservations! 262-2204

Upgraded B3 Blog platform – check out the new look!!!!

Thanks!

I would be remiss to not extend a huge thank you to the fine folks at Thomas Brunt’s Outfront web design for building our new blog template.  I connected to Thomas on LinkedIn and he was great to work with.  If you are interested in their services, they can be found at http://www.thomasbrunt.com/

Did you know that the Jackson Dining Room has one of the best views in Boone?

Window table in the Jackson Dining Room at the Broyhill InnThe Jackson Dining Room at the Broyhill Inn has a beautiful 25 mile long range view of our splendid Blue Ridge Mountains.  With our eastern exposure, the brilliant sunrises go great with a fresh cup of morning coffee and in the evening, our patrons get to enjoy the lush green hardwoods that frame natures picture from our complete windowed wall.  I am biased, as I often stop during my daily routine to admire our beautiful setting.

Jackson Dining Room @ Broyhill Inn Flourless Chocolat Cake

Jackson Dining Room Flourless Chocolate Cake

“To Die For” Flourless Chocolate Cake in Graham Cracker Crust

Makes two cakes….

18 eggs

1 lb. butter

4 lbs. real chocolate

¾ cup granulated sugar

1 tsp. cream of tartar

3 cups graham cracker crumbs

1Tblsp granulated sugar

½ cup of melted butter

Place graham cracker crumbs in a large bowl and mix in 1 Tblsp. of granulated sugar, mix well.  Slowly add melted butter until evenly distributed.  Pour crust mix into two spring form pans and press on the bottoms of the pans only.  Place chocolate in a double boiler to melt.  Separate eggs.  Place whites in mixing bowl and whip until soft peaks are formed.  Add cream of tartar.  Whip until peaks stiffen slightly.  Remove and place in a clean bowl.  Place egg yolks in mixing bowl with softened butter and ½ cup of granulated sugar and cream mixture for 3 minutes on high speed.  Reduce speed and add melted chocolate and stir only until color is uniform.  Remove and place in a clean bowl.  Fold in egg whites and pour batter into two prepared spring form pans with graham cracker crusts.  Place in 300 degree oven for 50-60 minutes.  Remove and place in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours to cool and set.

Graham cracker crust can be omitted – foil would be needed around spring pans to avoid leaking from the pan.

Enjoying the High County for all it is worth..

The High Country is a wonderful winter destination – the area Ski Mountains are in full swing and with all the natural snow we have had, I’m sure that the conditions are incredible.  Scoop up the family units and head on up..  and make some cool memories in our cool mountain temperatures..

The Broyhill Inn has some great rates this winter for you to take advantage of and our Jackson Dining Room is running some yummy specials for our evening dining which is offered each week on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings.  If you are able to be here on a weekend, don’t forget to try out Grand Sunday Brunch.  Many locals feel it is the best Brunch in the High Country.  For $23.95, you can’t beat the selection.

Nationally, Sunday brunch business was the one segment of restaurant dining that did not see a decrease in sales and our brunch continues to be a locals favorite.

Remember that with you nightly accommodations, you now receive a free continental breakfast also offered in the Jackson Dining Room.

Hope to see you soon,

Doug
