High Country Host Blog post on our upcoming Social Media sessions

Talk of the Town

I have found the first series of these sessions to be extremely informative and would suggest them to any business that is looking for sound advice and training on the uses of Social Media as a marketing tool.  Great folks teaching the class and you will have some fun at the same time.

Funny how you can learn about your area on a whim!

I was traveling back to the High Country yesterday from a trip with the family and I discovered to my surprise that Route 321 was closed north of Lenoir.  I had come down this route on Sunday and it was open and fine but I guess some rocks decided to shift and fall.. thus, no traffic permitted.  I have always wanted to “travel Globe road” which to locals is something that you should add to your bucket list.  The Globe Road is a one lane dirt road that winds its way up the mountain and ends on the cliff side of Blowing Rock.  What a fun time had by all.. well, at least by me.  Not sure how the rest of the family enjoyed it.  Beautiful land and scenes and a slice of Americana that is off the beaten path for sure.  The journey lasted about 20 extra minutes to climb the 3,000 + feet in elevation but was well worth it..  I have now concurred Globe Road.

Boone Green Drinks at Broyhill Inn

Had the first meeting of Boone Green Drinks last night at the Broyhill Inn and had a good crowd – A thank you to Blue Ridge Electric for hosting the event.  The attached is a video of the event for you to see http://vimeo.com/7977862 Come on out for the next one!

From their Facebook page:  “Boone Green Drinks” is an informal social networking organization that hosts monthly events for anyone interested in “green” activities in the High Country. It’s a great way of catching up with other local people involved in “green” services and also making new “green” contacts. Boone Green Drinks is among 12 other North Carolina communities and 640 cities worldwide that host monthly gatherings of sustainably-minded people who meet to informally discuss green business, green services and green activities.  http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=204951002552&index=1

My kind of Broyhill

Hello everyone who is following this blog! I wanted to share a few words with you to talk about the Broyhill Inn, cause that’s why we are here. First of all, I am Melvin Guevara, I am 22 years old from Costa Rica and I am an Intern here this fall, the new face behind the Broyhill Inn. Probably if you stayed at the Broyhill Inn or visited it for your business meeting, you probably saw me around. I have been pretty busy here, learning a little bit of everything I could. I have learned so many good things from the Broyhill Inn.  The greatest achievement for me was being part of the big family who works here. They are so nice and I had good moments hanging out and working here. I remember when I was in the kitchen, the first times I was trying not to mess up with the food and all that. And that’s exactly what they never let me do, cause they were always careful and professional, but they were nice guys too. Never left me alone and they were always there to help me. It was the same when I was in Banquets, The Jackson Dining Room, Front Desk, Housekeeping, hmmm who did I not mention? Well everyone who is involved in the Broyhill Inn family. The Broyhill for me is like school, I go there and do my homework. go home and then come back the next day and get an A. Cause that’s what the people and the service of the Broyhill are, just a Good Grade!!

I only can say THANK YOU Broyhill Inn, Thank You Staff, Thank You Boone, for letting me be part of you! Now I am such an expert in social media, another good thing I learned here. This is your hotel, and I hope you come by and visit us. You wont be disappointed. I guarantee you that.

Have a nice day!!
