Broyhill Inn History
Built in 1973, the center was originally named the “Broyhill Center for Continuing Education." The initial construction was financed primarily by private donations. The Broyhill Center received its name from the Broyhill family of Lenoir, NC, who gave a substantial gift for the building. In April 1986, the name was changed to The Broyhill Inn and Conference Center to more accurately reflect the facility's dual function, accommodating the needs of both the university and the general public.The facility has become a popular gathering place for the university’s faculty, students and alumni as well as university visitors. The Broyhill Inn & Conference Center is truly where it all comes together; the university, the local community and regional industries utilizing the Center simultaneously for lodging, dining, banquet and meeting purposes.
